Washington County Courthouses

The original Washington County Courthouse in Stillwater – built in 1870 in Italianate style – is an architectural masterpiece listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and should not be missed if you are ever in the area.

The original Washington County Courthouse is the oldest surviving courthouse building in Minnesota, but is now operated as an event center – not a courthouse.

The current Washington County Courthouse is located just west of the city of Stillwater, north of Highway 36, at 14949 62nd Street North, Stillwater, MN 55082.

Washington County is bordered:

  • on the north by Chisago County,
  • on the west by Anoka County, Dakota County, and Ramsey County
  • on the south by Dakota County, and
  • on the east by the St. Croix River, and the State Wisconsin.
